Some people think that Satan is in Hell, or trapped in the Abyss. The truth is, he's right here on Earth, corrupting us, leading us into sin and destruction. It's easy to think of him as the Lord of Hell, but at no point will he rule over anything but the souls given over to him by their own voluntary will. He can attack the righteous; the most interesting Saint of the 20th century, Saint Padre Pio was a very righteous man who took confessions for 18 hours a day sometimes, and would tell people the sins they missed. He had the power to read minds, had painful stigmata, would tell people to send their Guardian Angel to him to speak with him, and during World War 2, levitated in the air and waved off bombers, refusing to allow their bombs to engage, sparing a village. He could also bilocate, with two versions of himself doing different things, such as healing wounds on a battlefield.
The point of all this? He was relentlessly attacked by Satan, sometimes physically in his bed at night. Satan is on the Earth, and seeks to corrupt and intimidate the righteous. Nevertheless, Saint Padre Pio said that Satan was kept on a leash by God. Satan is a loser that God uses to test the righteous. Do you really want to ally yourself with such a pathetic creature? Think about it. He will spend all of Eternity being punished with the condemned, ruling over no one. That is the fate of Satan, not to be ruler.
